Chi Alpha is a national campus ministry on over 300 university campuses worldwide. We're a movement of college-aged men and women earnestly following Jesus Christ. Our mission is to reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission to transform the university, the marketplace and the world.

In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20,

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God."

Our movement finds its identity in this passage. We believe that God longs to have each and every person be reconciled to Himself. Each of us who takes on the identity of "Christian" becomes Christ's ambassador--or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters "Chi" and "Alpha" (or XA). Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in bringing the gospel to this world.

Chi Alpha is sponsored by the Assemblies of God who provides local campus ministries with support, resources, and a network of worldwide partnership. The Assemblies of God equips Chi Alpha staff, including campus missionaries, and student leaders. You do not need to have a history with the AG church to be a part of Chi Alpha. All are welcomed!

What We Believe >

5 Fold Approach

We seek to introduce fellow collegians to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. We plan to do this through prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.

“Our primary strategy is to work towards the building of a group or community of people who share the ideals of becoming a community of worship, a community of prayer, a community of fellowship, a community of discipleship, and a community of mission. We believe the most fertile atmosphere for people to come to faith and maturity in Christ is warm exposure to a group of people fervently committed to the God of the Bible, to one another, and to the task of evangelizing the campus. As a worshipping, loving, praying, discipling, witnessing community, they demonstrate the Kingdom of God and most effectively enculturate others in it.”

Chi Alpha Philosophy

These pillars should be reflected in our students, missionaries and staff. Prayer encompasses all these pillars. You honor and respect those for whom you pray, and you are united with God and others in prayer. We encourage prayer. It is the way we communicate and intercede to God for friends, family and ourselves. Jesus taught us how to pray and we should do so on a regular basis. You can pray by yourself (Matthew 6:6) or with others (Matthew 18:20).
